How It All Started
Stories have the power to move, inspire, be remembered and shape our perspective. We all have a story to tell. These stories define Calderdale now and help us create the place we want it to be in the future. A place where we are all proud to belong.
Stories are at the heart of the 10-year ambition for Calderdale, Vision 34, with the central concept of ‘My Calderdale story – building a sense of belonging through story’. The Vision 34 themes showcase what makes our borough unique, and bring hope and direction so we can all contribute – through our goals and actions – to building a better Calderdale for everyone.
Vision 34 is the next chapter of the Vision 2024 that has been driving the borough since 2018. Vision 2024 introduced words and values that have become defining for our place and those who live in Calderdale and work across the public, private and voluntary sectors. Now we’re building on this strong foundation.
Community remains central to Vision 34. Over the past few years, we’ve been going deep into our local communities to collect stories and build the Vision together. We have had over 800 conversations and reached more people than ever before.
We saw so much love for Calderdale through poignant stories and experiences, and can truly say that Vision 34 reflects and belongs to everyone. This shared vision will create a shared sense of identity and aspiration across all our diverse communities.
